Collins is a passionate community and youth advocate. She believes today's youth can benefit from the practice of yoga. Yoga reduces stress, stabilizes emotional trauma and it is an additional option for healthy physical activity.
"I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with foster youth. The statistics sadden me," says Collins. "The older a child is in foster care, their chances for adoption are lowered. Kidsave plays a vital role in acknowledging that foster care is not a home. The solution is to find families for the children. I want to expose the children to a different way to handle the stress that come along with being the system."
Collins wishes to bring awareness to the large number of older foster youth in the Los Angeles County. In addition to awareness, she wants to showcase how yoga can assist in the betterment of a child's physical, mental and emotional health.
