By: www.maritimenz.com “This was undertaken to establish the location of Browns Island Beacon as it was discussed over much time in Court. Photo taken by me ( J Joy) 3rd April 2011 The Beacon can easily be seen on the left side of North Head in the following photo, taken at position 1 – cropped to show horizon features only. The original Photo 1 from position 1 taken by Seaway ll, cropped to show horizon features only. These 2 photos are then aligned below, with Sky Tower & Sentinel Building being aligned correctly. Seaway ll’s photo has a slight angle of the horizon, not being exactly horizontal, but this is not having any significant effect on the view alignment. The alignment clearly shows that Browns Island Motukorea Beacon is behind the window frame of Seaway ll in the bottom photo which is the one taken by Seaway ll on 14th March 2009 Mr Young’s evidence that it was not possible to establish positions & that it was not possible to say that the beacon was behind the frame, is clearly incorrect & in my opinion is misleading to the Court. Mr Bolton’s evidence that it was possible to establish positions & that the beacon was behind the frame is clearly correct.” Bolton’s post here on 29th Jan’14 shows his method of establishing that Browns Island is out to the left of M Pigneyguy’s Photo 1 & the Beacon is hidden behind the window frame.
