President and Executive Producer, Greg Lang, says the event is meant to promote healthier lifestyles, as it’s an achievable fitness goal and anyone can participate. The four-mile course features more than 20 challenging obstacles such as Cargo ChargeTM, Hit the WallTM and Vertical VengeanceTM. Challenging and fun for all fitness levels, the obstacle mission consists of two primary heats: CHARGE for Fun and CHARGE for Glory.

CHARGE for Fun participants are out to achieve a personal goal and complete a challenge, all while TV cameras roll. CHARGE for Fun heats aren’t timed, enabling CHARGERS to take on the course at their own pace and eliminate tougher obstacles if they choose.

“If you’re a tad bit intimidated, that’s okay,” Lang says. “It’s meant to test and push your limits.”

CHARGE for Glory heats are timed, marshaled and filmed for the TV series. Top finishers in each age group receive awards, while the overall winners take home the title of CHARGE Champion and the Championship Truss Trophy.

New this year, HARD CHARGE is adding several specialty CHARGE for Fun heats. For the first time, HARD CHARGE will be open to participants under the age of 18. The HARD CHARGE Kidz heat is a special course for those 5 and up, while the Teen heat, ages 13-17, will race the same HARD CHARGE course as standard CHARGE for Fun and CHARGE for Glory participants. HARD CHARGE is also is adding College Pride and Military heats. College Pride is open to anyone who wants to show support for their favorite team while the televised Military event is reserved for past and active-duty military only. Participants are encouraged to sign up early for these specialty heats, as they are limited in size and will sell out.

HARD CHARGE is broadcast in more than 60 million homes through Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports and local affiliates across the country. The show focuses on the world’s fastest-growing adventure sport and the everyday competitors who vie for the title of CHARGE Champion. Each episode highlights their journeys and personal stories as they work towards competing in a race testing their courage, strength and stamina.
