SAVANNAH, Ga. - Feb. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- (RICHMOND HILL, GA) The Matthew Freeman Project, paired with the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church, is launching its newest mission, Matthew Bears, Thursday, March 6 at 9:45 a.m. at Richmond Hill United Methodist Church during the Day School Chapel Time with a small reception to follow.

Lisa Freeman will be presenting stuffed bears to Gold Star Sibling Jessica Chihuahua’s sons, Bruce, Colton, and Levi. Jessica’s brother, Spc. Shannon Chihuahua, was an Army Combat Medic who was killed in Afghanistan in November 2012.

The bears being presented are made out of retired uniforms of Spc. Shannon Chihuahua.

The Matthew Bears Mission was formed to reach out to the children and nieces and nephews of military killed while deployed or in the performance of their duties.

Matthew 5:4 inspired the name for the mission and states “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Old uniforms from the military member killed is what will make up the material for the bears. The hope of the new mission is to bring a tangible piece of the military member back to the family to provide comfort. All bears are free to the families.
