PrintReleaf Makes an Impact at the Intersection of Print, Sustainability and Global Forestry

Software leverages connected technology to certifiably reforest paper consumption

DENVER - March 4, 2014 - PRLog -- The first technology platform to enable cloud-based paper tracking and reforestation, the PrintReleaf Exchange (http://www.printreleaf.com/) [PRX], went live today. PRX provides all stakeholders in the Managed Print Services (MPS) industry - OEMs, dealers, customers and the environment - an innovative and authentic way to promote sustainable business practices and reduce the environmental impacts that can result from printing.

This new concept offers features that appeal to OEMs and dealers on a financial basis, while also enhancing the value of print products for customers and benefiting the environment by replacing paper that is used.

With PRX, customers “releaf,” or reforest, their paper consumption by planting new trees – equivalent to their consumption – at global reforestation project sites of their choice.  PrintReleaf reforests at a generally accepted rate of 8,333 sheets of paper per tree (this equation is detailed in PrintReleaf’s global standard for sustainability). Since the company’s founding in 2011, PrintReleaf and its beta customers have reforested more than 3,000 trees.

PRX measures paper consumption through a patent-pending aggregation process that uses the automatic transmission of device and fleet data collected by print management software on imaging devices. This allows end users to help neutralize paper waste, improve efficiency and certifiably participate in sustaining our global forests.

Once a customer’s paper consumption is measured, they are connected directly to reforestation projects located where the planet needs trees most. After selecting where they want their paper releafed, customers can use their online portal to track the evolution, growth, and survival of their trees over an approximate 10-year time frame for each tree.

"By neutralizing the impact on our global forestry system, we can unlock an infinite cycle for paper,” said Jordan Darragh, founder and CEO of PrintReleaf. “It is unreasonable to think we can completely eliminate the need for paper. Rather, we are providing a solution that minimizes the negative impacts of paper usage.”

PrintReleaf also educates customers on how to move away from tree negative (using paper resources – trees – more quickly than those resources are replenished) to tree neutral, and understand the opportunity to become tree positive (planting more trees than are used).
