Follow on Google News | Dennis E. Stallings Elected To AIA College Of FellowsStallings joins the fewer than four percent of registered architects that are elected to the AIA College of Fellows
By: Clark Nexsen As noted in the AIA Fellowship summary, “Dennis Stallings has advanced the architectural profession at the intersection between design practice and architectural education, building a foundation for critical thinking in the design studio and leading by example with his built work.” Stallings has been a Professor of Practice at NC State University College of Design since 1993. He has focused his teaching on developing his students’ genuine passion for architecture and on building their confidence to complete outstanding projects. As a result, his students are equipped with the core competences and creative capital to shape the built environment of the 21st century. Dennis has directly influenced over 400 students and his influence extends beyond these students to the firms where they work and the practices they have founded, across America and in many parts of the world. “Owing to his standing in the architecture community and his many contributions to both practice and teaching, it is most appropriate that Dennis has been elevated to Fellowship. Both Dennis and the College of Fellows will benefit from his inclusion,” said Jeffrey Lee, FAIA with Clark Nexsen. Stallings is a much-sought- Stallings joins a class of 139 other successful candidates from across the U.S. – seven from the southeast region and two others from AIA North Carolina. He will receive his medal at the Investiture of Fellows Ceremony during the AIA 2014 National Convention in Chicago in June. About the College of Fellows The AIA College of Fellows seeks to stimulate a sharing of interests among Fellows, promote the purposes of the Institute, advance the profession of architecture, mentor young architects, and be of ever-increasing service to society. The College of Fellows, founded in 1952, is composed of members of the Institute who are elected to Fellowship by a jury of their peers. Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member. Elevation to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual but also elevates before the public and the profession those architects who have made significant contributions to architecture and to society.
