VANCOUVER, British Columbia - March 3, 2014 - PRLog -- CONCRETE LIFESTYLES is a designer and manufacturer of concrete fire tables and concrete furniture.  They have enjoyed a surge in sales in fire tables as more and more people are using their outdoor space for entertaining - the patio becoming an extension of the home.

Whalen took a design course through Cheng Design in Oakland, CA to learn the techniques to manufacturing fire tables.  Whalen uses his 20 years' experience working with concrete and is able to design and build pieces that are truly works of art.

Whalen can turn around eight to ten concrete fire tables a month from his Maple Ridge studio.  The process involves casting the piece, stripping and hand-polishing the concrete and allowing it to cure for two weeks before placing the burners in.

The fire tables are ignited like a barbeque.  The flame, which can be protected with a 5" tall glass windscreen, can rise about a foot from the fire glass, fire beads or lava rock.  The flames height is controlled by a removable key valve.  The fire tables measure 36" by 36"; however they can be custom made for size and colour.

"Fire tables provide a very comfortable setting outdoors and they do give off heat but not smoke.  They are great for communities with fire restrictions.  They can be used in condos where permitted" says Whalen

Whalen's concrete fire tables are being sold at select retailers in the Lower Mainland including barbeque, fireplace and outdoor furniture stores.  They can be seen at several restaurants and have piqued the interest of many home decorators around the globe including New York, Great Britain and Australia.  Whalen can offer custom service for unique designs as he works closely with interior designers and landscape architects.
