TAMPA, Fla. - Feb. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- FLATE is encouraging educators across Florida to sign up for the five-day National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Credentialing workshop for metalworking instructors. FLATE is working with colleges, high schools and tech centers across Florida to align state curriculum framework with NIMS credentials that certifies individual skills against national standards. The workshop will be held April 21-25, 2014 at the Advanced Technology College at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, FL. Cost for the workshop $995 and will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m..

Overview of Workshop

Activities include hands-on lab time, as well as classroom/workgroup time. Participants will gain an understanding of NIMS, and learn about curriculum alignment requirements needed to meet the national standards and certificates. They will also receive a working knowledge of NIMS processes for individual credentialing and program accreditation and earn NIMS credentials.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to earn all NIMS Machining Level I credentials. Curriculum for the workshop will center on:
