Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients require dual oral antiplatelet therapy (DAPT)--aspirin plus a P2Y12 inhibitor--for in-hospital and post-hospital discharge management.  The landscape of oral antiplatelet therapy has changed, with three P2Y12 receptor inhibitors available—clopidogrel, prasugrel, and ticagrelor.  In addition to oral antiplatelet therapy after an ACS, other interventions (lifestyle and pharmacologic) are recommended to reduce the risk of another ischemic event.  This program will address pharmacologic profiles of antiplatelet drugs, efficacy and safety data with antiplatelet therapies from ACS clinical trials, and appropriate use of DAPT in the short-term and long-term management of ACS patients.  A case presentation will enable attendees to interact with faculty members regarding prudent secondary prevention in a patient who has experienced an ACS.
