They are kicking off the 25-year celebration by announcing that they are hiring a new OBGYN doctor. Founded by Drs. Tom Stavoy and Carl Schwenker in 1988, Halifax OBGYN started as a general OBGYN practice located adjacent to Halifax Health. Growing in size and scope over the next two decades, they built the showcase Twin Lakes Medical Center in Daytona Beach. The location and affiliation with other medical groups in the same facility, has minimized delays and the need to travel to multiple locations for care. “It’s hard to believe that some of the first babies I delivered are 25-years-old and we are caring for those women, and their children now,” said Dr. Stavoy. “It’s truly our pleasure to care for, educate and advocate for women’s health in our area,” he added. To help care for this growing number of women in the community, Halifax OBGYN is excited to be bringing on Dr. Marjorie Bhogal. Dr. Bhogal is a graduate of Florida State University College of Medicine, and trained at the Daytona Beach Regional Campus. “After having the privilege of working with Dr. Carbiener and her staff during my medical school training, I knew I wanted to return to Daytona Beach and become a part of their team. I am especially excited to have the chance to give back to FSU and teach medical students,” said Dr. Bhogal. Although originally from the South Florida/Palm Beach area, Dr. Bhogal felt accepting the position with Halifax OBGYN was like ‘coming home’. Dr. Bhogal said that it was striking to see how well the office gets along, and cares so much for their patients. Another deciding factor in selecting Halifax OBGYN was how much she could learn from Dr. Carbiener about mentoring and giving back to the community like Dr. Carbiener has done throughout her career. Dr. Bhogal will start in August, 2014 after completing her Residency Training at UF Health in Jacksonville, Florida. The office will host a 25-year celebration on Wednesday, April 2nd at 5:30 pm to welcome Dr. Bhogal and visit with now-retired Dr. Schwenker, one of the original founders of Halifax OBGYN. The entire team will be there and the event is open to the public. All past, present and future Halifax OBGYN patients are invited to attend. Halifax OBGYN is full-service obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) practice. They have led the way with new minimally invasive surgery techniques, including the ability to perform major gynecologic surgeries through tiny incisions with minimal recovery. Currently, the vast majority of surgeries performed at Halifax OBGYN are to remove endometriosis, ovarian disease, fibroids or complete hysterectomies, all with tiny incisions. Recovery is either a same day discharge, or an overnight hospital stay. Drs. Baldwin and Cortez are proficient in the DiVinci Robotic System and perform robotic procedures at Halifax Health. The practice has been serving Volusia and Flagler counties since 1988. The practice consists of Dr. Thomas Stavoy (http://www.halifaxobgyn.com/ End
