BandwidthX and Wireless 20/20 Team Up at Mobile World Congress

The two companies will take a data-driven look at the benefits of Wi-Fi commerce and the value of “Dark Wi-Fi”
Feb. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- At this week’s Carrier Wi-Fi Summit at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, BandwidthX, the operator of a cloud-based marketplace that enables Mobile Operators to buy unused Wi-Fi capacity from ISPs, has teamed up with Wireless 20/20, an independent research and consulting company, to examine the value and benefits of Wi-Fi offload and commerce.  The two companies will discuss and share the key measurements and findings regarding the extraordinary value that “Dark Wi-Fi” can bring to both Mobile Operators and ISPs.  The results will be presented at two workshops during the Carrier Wi-Fi Summit.

In addition, BandwidthX’s CEO Dr. Pertti Visuri will be speaking at the “Meet the Experts” session at the Carrier Wi-Fi Summit.  He will be discussing the company’s Wi-Fi marketplace and the recent win of the Wi-Fi Broadband Alliance’s Best New Venture Award. BandwidthX has developed - and is operating - Bandwidth Market, a cloud-based service that enables Wi-Fi access and roaming commerce.  The business-to-business solution enables Mobile Operators to precisely meet peak data demand growth by buying unused Wi-Fi capacity from Wi-Fi and Internet Service Providers.

The BandwidthX and Wireless 20/20 workshops - The Value of “Dark Wi-Fi” – A Data-Driven Look at the Benefits of Wi-Fi Commerce  - will be held on Tuesday February 25, 2014, at 1:00pm and at 4:30pm in Hall 8 at the Carrier Wi-Fi Summit.  Dr. Visuri’s presentation – Best New Venture Award – BandwidthX: Introducing a Wi-Fi Market – will take place on Tuesday February 25, 2014, at 3:40pm in Hall 8 at the Carrier Wi-Fi Summit in Barcelona, Spain.

“We are pleased to be joined by Wireless 20/20 to discuss how large the value is in Mobile Operators savings and ISP revenue when harnessing unused Wi-Fi as a resource.  Using the Wireless 20/20 WiROI model, an in-depth analysis demonstrates what a valuable assets Wi-Fi can be in your network. At BandwidthX we make the process simple and cost effective to tap into this existing unrealized data capacity source. We are looking forward to sharing the key measurements and findings regarding Dark Wi-Fi in Barcelona,” says Dr. Visuri.

About BandwidthX

BandwidthX has solved the main hurdles in putting Wi-Fi to work. The company offers a cloud-based marketplace where both Mobile Operators and Wi-Fi/Internet Service Providers can define their value for capacity in real time and are automatically matched when their values align. Bandwidth Market gives the Mobile Operators incremental data capacity at lower cost, while allowing the Wi-Fi service providers to profit from new revenue streams.  With this new form of micro-commerce, everyone in the Wi-Fi ecosystem wins: from Mobile Operators and hotspot service providers to equipment and software vendors, aggregators and financial clearing companies and, of course, the end user of the device.
