Siren Interactive Spotlights Challenges of Rare Disease Diagnosis with Infographic

Siren Interactive Developed a Rare Disease Day infographic Focusing on the Struggle to Diagnosis Rare Diseases

CHICAGO - Feb. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- In honor of this year’s Rare Disease Day, Siren Interactive has developed an infographic (http://www.sireninteractive.com/rare-disease-infographic) to help increase awareness of the struggle of diagnosis in the rare disease community. February 28, 2014 is Rare Disease Day (http://www.rarediseaseday.us/)—an international advocacy day to bring widespread recognition of rare diseases as a global health challenge.

The infographic, Journey into the Unknown: The Search for Rare Diagnosis (http://www.sireninteractive.com/rare-disease-infographic), is the latest effort in the agency’s educational series (http://www.sireninteractive.com/sirensong/tag/diagnosis/) on rare disease diagnosis and the resources available for those seeking a diagnosis.

“Through my personal experience and our work at Siren, we know diagnosis is an incredible challenge facing patients, families, and healthcare professionals dealing with rare diseases,” commented Wendy White, a rare disease caregiver and founder of Siren Interactive (http://www.sireninteractive.com/), a relationship marketing agency specializing in orphan drugs and rare diseases. “Our goal with this infographic is to further bring attention to the need for quick, accurate diagnoses of rare diseases. Only then can patients receive the right treatments.”

Siren Interactive is collaborating with Global Genes (http://www.globalgenes.org/), a leading rare disease patient advocacy organization, and geneticist Sharon Moalem, MD, PhD (http://www.sharonmoalem.com/), to help advance a diagnosis tool at the Healthcare Grand H@ckfest on March 14-16 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Cross-functional teams will compete to refine Recognyz, Moalem’s facial recognition diagnosis software, with the winning group receiving a cash prize. To offer this tool at no cost to physicians, Moalem is donating his patents to Global Genes.
