Loudoun County Organizations are Equipping High School Students With Tools To Navigate Life

ASHBURN, Va. - Feb. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- On March 22, 2014 two local public service organizations will conduct a day-long program that will arm high school students with tools to “Navigate the Game of Life”.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Loudoun County Alumnae Chapter (LCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Dulles-Leesburg (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., will team together to host a leadership seminar known as E.M.B.O.D.I . (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities to Develop Independence) Impact day.  Through panel discussions and activities, up to 50 teens in Loudoun County, males and females in grades 9-12, will be actively engaged in learning and implementing decision-making skills focused on financial management, social media and resume writing, interviewing and presentation skills.  Discussions on “taking personal responsibility” and “building healthy relationships” will also be included this year.

When asked why this is important, Rhonda Hewitt, EMBODI Chair, stated, “there is a need in our community to address these issues and provide opportunities for students to speak with subject matter experts and their peers about real life situations currently in the media.  LCAC is committed to providing educational opportunities to prepare our students for the greatest chances of success through a solid foundation and support.”

This event provides an opportunity for participants to actively engage in discussions related to issues impacting their lives.  EMBODI Impact day is currently accepting registrants until March 15, 2014.  For more information, visit the LCAC website:  http://lcacdst.org or the Dulles-Leesburg Alumni Chapter website:  http://www.kappasofdulles.org/cms/.
