By: Jeff Dunlap Communications, LLC Gregory secured the settlement in federal court after the couple sued the truck driver and the trucking company that employed him. The case was heard in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. “The outcome of this case shows how crucial it is for trucking companies and their drivers to abide by laws and regulations set by the federal government. Even minor, low speed accidents involving semi-trucks can result in serious injuries,” said Gregory, whose offices are based in Clayton, Missouri. The $975,000 settlement reached in January enables Gregory’sclients to pay extraordinary medical expenses they would not have been able to pay including emergency care, surgical procedures, hospitalization expenses and additional healthcare costs incurred when the semi-truck slammed into their vehicle in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Both the husband and the wife suffered serious personal injuries in the incident and are dealing with long-term recovery and rehabilitation. “Without legal action to secure this substantial settlement, my clients would not be able to pay for the emergency medical, surgical and rehabilitation services that they urgently needed, and they may have been denied such services,” Gregory said. “What began as a very unfortunate circumstance now has a financial resolution that will genuinely help my injured clients.” Gregory is a founding partner of the law firm Drivers Defense Counsel, LC (www.driversdefensecounsel.com).
