Follow on Google News | Registration Opens for the 10th Annual 72 Hour Film ShootoutAs of March 1, 2014, early bird registration is now open for the 72 Hour Shootout, an annual global filmmaking competition celebrating diversity and artistic empowerment.
Registration for the competition begins today, March 1, 2014, and can be completed online at www.film-lab.org. Judges already confirmed include Marci Phillips (Executive Director of Casting for ABC Primetime), Michael McKenna (NYCMedia), Kenneth Lin (House of Cards), Celena Cipriaso (All My Children), Christine Yoo (The Wedding Palace), Scott Eriksson (film festival programmer, Asians on Film), and Milton Liu, Director of Programs and Artist Services at Visual Communications, with more judges to be announced in the upcoming weeks! Upcoming Shootout related events will include a Meet the Coordinator and Q&A (March 27); Filmmaking How To Seminar (April 3); and a Build Your Team Networking Party (May). The intention of this filmmaking competition is to create opportunities for filmmakers of color, particularly Asian Americans, to demonstrate their talent, gain exposure in the entertainment industry and create positive significant impact on the visibility of Asian and Asian American stories and characters in film and television. One of the Shootout requirements is that at least one key production member (e.g., director, producer or writer) and a principal actor from each team must be of Asian descent. The 2014 Shootout Coordinator will be focusing on films that reflect individuality and offer unique and new perspectives. The 10th Annual 72 Hour Film Shootout begins on June 6, 2014.
