EWGA and LPGA host Second Annual Professional Women and Golf Day

Raising Awareness and Funds for Girls and Women to Learn and Grow through the Game of Golf

DALLAS - Feb. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- The EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) and LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) will once again bring together influential women from North Texas who desire to use golf to achieve their business and life goals by hosting the second annual Professional Women and Golf Day on Tuesday, April 29 at 12 p.m. at the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas.

The event, Teeing Up for Success, opens The North Texas LPGA Shootout tournament week and has the same theme as the book Teeing Up for Success, scheduled for release in January 2014.  The book tells the stories of 31 inspiring women who have used golf to propel their successful golf and/or business careers and features accounts from LPGA World Golf Hall of Fame golfer and sports broadcaster Judy Rankin; former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Donna Shalala; Senior Vice President at ClubCorp, Kathy O’Neal and noted golf course architect, Alice Dye. The funds raised will benefit local charities, which further the Nexus Club mission to provide an environment for learning and growing for girls and women through the game of golf.

Pam Swenson, EWGA CEO, will open the day followed by the keynote address from LPGA Chief Communications Officer, Kraig Kann.  “FPO- We are proud and honored for the opportunity to co-host this premiere event, which fulfills the EWGA mission of providing women greater professional success through the opportunity to build relationships and open doors through the  game of golf,” says Swensen.

The event also features a presentation, Grow your Business Success – Leveraging Golf, from Ricki Lasky, Vice President, Tournament Business Affairs at LPGA; a “Behind the Scenes, Inside the Ropes” tour of the North Texas Shootout, with stops at the media center and television compound; a “Teeing Up for Success” panel moderated by Swensen and putting instruction led by PGA Professional, Chuck Higgins, a Player Development Regional Manager for The PGA of America.

The event registration begins at 12 p.m., followed by the lunch and program at 12:30 p.m. and concludes with an opportunity to mingle with the speakers, panelists, and select LPGA Tour players during a wine reception from 5 to 6 p.m..
