Newman Garrison + Partners Receives Award from the National Association of Home Builders

Development honored is the first to showcase a new proprietary design concept that captures the important sustainability, open space and livability aspects of MF housing

PRLog - Feb. 21, 2014 - COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Newman Garrison + Partners (NG+P), a Costa Mesa, Calif.-based architectural firm specializing in the design of multifamily communities, was honored with the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) The Nationals™ Silver award for ‘Best Architectural Design for a Multifamily Community’ for the recently unveiled Park Landing, an affordable multifamily housing community located at 8850 La Palma Ave. Buena Park, Calif. The project is the first development completed using the architecture firm’s unique proprietary design concept, New Block™, which provides a lower-cost, sustainable design for smaller urban sites – creating the potential for value in parcels that traditionally have been ignored by builders for economic reasons

The Nationals™, presented by The National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) and Wells Fargo Home Loans, is comprised of the NAHB, a trade association founded in 1942 that helps promote policies to make housing a national priority.  The annual awards pay tribute to exceptional achievements by homebuilders/developers, architects and other professionals serving the housing industry.  Each project is judged during a three-day period based on its own merits by a panel of distinguished individuals selected for professional expertise in sales, marketing and design, and represent a wide range of disciplines and geographic cross section.

Award winners were announced at The National Awards Gala at  NAHB’s International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas on February 4, 2014 at the Wynn/Encore Hotel, a sold-out, black-tie gala drawing more than 600 attendees.

The property prompting this honor, Park Landing, is a four-story affordable multifamily housing development, comprised of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units up to 1150 square-feet; 24,343 square-feet of open space; and a 4,000-square-foot clubhouse. Additionally, the project includes the first green roof incorporated as part of a residential property in Orange County. The development is a LEED Silver certified community, and is the first project using NG+P’s New Block™ concept.

“Infill housing has become a critical component of our urban landscape,” said Kevin Newman, CEO and president of NG+P.  “Our New Block™ concept strives to address the unique needs of the market, and we are truly honored by this recognition for our design of Park Landing.”

New Block™ also provided an economically feasible option for the site’s developer, Jamboree Housing, the Silver award recipient of The Nationals prestigious honor for ‘Masterplanned Community of the Year’ for its development of Park Landing.

“Park Landing is a true showcase of the shared values in the partnership between Jamboree and Newman Garrison + Partners. Both groups see innovation, sustainability and high quality of life for our residents as essential in the development of affordable housing,” said Michael Massie, Housing Development Director for Jamboree.
