Feb. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Air Force officials discussed what is ahead for the military branch this week at events around the D.C. area. and articles in defense publications.

Mark Welsh, Air Force Chief of Staff, spoke (http://www.executivegov.com/2014/02/mark-welsh-previews-new-air-force-spending-plan/) at the Air Force Association where he said the branch is developing a new spending plan.

“Is it strategic agility, cyber-centric operations, blended deterrence, all the above or some combination? I don’t know,” Welsh said.

“Whatever it is, we’ve got to figure it out, and we’ve got to figure it out quick,” he added.

There is already a consolidation effort going on to streamline Air Force resources under a 20-year timeframe.

Robert Otto, Air Force deputy chief of staff for ISR, said the Air Force will keep its focus on counterterrorism despite the U.S. pivot to the Asia-Pacific region.

“We need to do a reset on analysis, and that will involve everything from doctrine to training, to investment, to exercises, to collaboration, to bringing in some of what space can offer,” he added.

Otto also said the Air Force would like to standardize services for cyber, space and human intelligence, as well as to ramp up investment in cyber.
