NanoTecNexus To Launch "Do you Nano?" Campaign in DC, Programs and New Website

Recovering from Acteva Scam poses challenges to STEM program

SAN DIEGO - Feb. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- NanoTecNexus (NTN), the organization that brought the ‘Nexus’ to San Diego in 2004 through its launch of NanoBioNexus, continues to innovate and evolve to meet new challenges in nanotech education.  After announcing its expanded mission November 2013, NTN has launched a new website and exciting new programs that support nanoscale science, technology, engineering, & math (STEM) education.

NanoTecNexus kicks off the year with a national education program as a proud Official Partner of the USA Science & Engineering Festival (USASEF). The Festival, which began as the country’s first national science festival in 2010, will be held in Washington DC, April 25-27, 2014. NTN will join over 500 of the country’s leading science and engineering organizations exhibiting to well over 300,000 visitors.  The goal is help foster the interest of our nation’s youth in the sciences.

Debuting in the festival’s Nanotechnology Pavilion will be the NanoTecNexus “Do you nano?” campaign where tens of thousands of attendees will enjoy an array of fun, visual, interactive and hands-on educational activities for visitors.  Activities are designed to communicate the concepts of nanotechnology and nanoscience in a manner that is simple to understand.

Simultaneously, NanoTecNexus is trying to recover from being among the latest victims of the company called Acteva Corporation, now under investigation for shady business practices and alleged criminal theft according to multiple online sources.  The unaware NTN used Acteva for their online registration for its November 2013 relaunch event and does not expect to see any of its funds from November and December sales.   “What blows my mind is that they knowingly and deliberately continued to take money from unsuspecting nonprofits like us even though nonpayment complaints date back to 2012.” said Adriana Vela, Founder of NanoTecNexus.

NTN is fundraising for this program and seeks support from industry through its sponsorship package to fulfill its commitment to sponsor five nanoengineering students to attend the festival.  The goal is to support the educational activities in a ‘pay-it-forward’ fashion and inspire kids to pursue STEM higher education.  Click here to learn more about underwriting opportunities. NTN’s new website supports the expanded mission by adding an array of educational resources for the general public and K-12 students.  Opportunities for members of the scientific community and nanoscience enthusiasts will open soon through our Events, Internships, NanopreneurTM and Partnering programs with some starting as early as Q2’14.
