"The default answer for transportation in Austin does not have to be a personal car. Companies like RideScout make it easier for Austinites to find the transportation options that work best for them,” said Austin Council Member Chris Riley. “For every Austinite who finds an alternative for their commute, RideScout has helped all of us by taking one more car off the road."
With the proliferation of several new transportation services in Austin, RideScout is a platform that brings many options together in one view. Recent RideScout app improvements include comprehensive Austin B-cycle trip planning, car2go cost estimates and enhanced functionality for Android app users.
"With transit, car share, and bikeshare, Austin finally has a complete transportation solution that reduces traffic congestion while getting you where you want to go fast and easy," said Elliott McFadden, Executive Director of Austin B-cycle. "And now we have a single app with RideScout that lets Austinites plan trips on CapMetro, Car2go and Austin B-cycle, all in one place."
Austin B-cycle launched operations on December 21, 2013 and plans to have 40 stations by mid-March.
“As an Austinite myself, I’m thrilled to come back and help improve transportation in Austin after we’ve proven the model with our launch in Washington, DC,” said Joseph Kopser, Co-Founder and CEO of RideScout. “There has never been an app where the people of Austin can see and compare this many transportation options in real-time. Now there is and it’s called RideScout.”
RideScout launched operations in Washington, DC on November 20, 2013 and has been growing steadily with a 20% increase in active users week over week.
"With the recent addition of MetroRapid service, Capital Metro is giving Austin residents more options to commute quickly and comfortably,"
RideScout and Austin B-cycle announce their partnership just before SXSW, during which the bikeshare system and local car2go outpost expect to have a spike in new and active users.
“With our North American headquarters here in Austin, we’re invested in this city and are excited to welcome RideScout, which enables the city’s residents to choose an option like car2go or an alternative option when it doesn’t make sense for him or her to drive,” said car2go Chief Marketing Officer Paul DeLong.
