Life Science Process Researchers to Convene for Seventh Annual Efficient Process Chemistry Meeting

Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s 2014 Efficient Process Chemistry conference will provide process research teams with opportunities for improvement in API development, flow chemistry, solid state synthesis, and step economy for route design.

BOSTON - Feb. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI) is pleased to, for the seventh time, bring together chemists in the life science industry who work in process research and development for a dedicated conference, Efficient Process Chemistry. Taking place, May 22-23, 2014 in Boston, the meeting will include two days of discussion and presentations by process chemistry teams at the forefront of the field from a diverse range of organizations – from big pharma and academia to small biotechs – to share best practices and advances in developing efficient ‘fit for purpose’ routes of synthesis for small molecule drug candidates.

The meeting agenda includes 17 presentations on early process research and the development of APIs, flow chemistry, solid state synthesis and step economy considerations for route design. Attendees will gain unique perspective and insight for addressing the ultimate challenge of a process chemist: devising a process that is workable for early phase or preclinical supply demands with short timelines, while simultaneously planning for long-term development strategies. Also included in the agenda are facilitated roundtables, panel discussions and case study presentations.

“The conference showcases some excellent examples of technological advancements and innovations emerging in the area of process chemistry, proving that not only is process chemistry central to drug development, it is also a discipline where progress is occurring rapidly enough for a meeting like this to be badly needed,” states Dr. Neelakandha Mani, Scientific Director & Fellow of Discovery Sciences for Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development. Dr. Mani will be presenting “Step Economy Considerations in Route Development and Scale-Up of Drug Candidates” on the second morning of the conference.

A dinner course instructed by Neal Anderson on "Refining API Process Development for Efficiency" will also be offered on-site.

For the first time, Efficient Process Chemistry will take place within CHI’s flagship World Pharma Congress, an event uniting a diverse group of more than 500 scientists and clinicians, working in biology, pharmacology, formulations and process chemistry.
