In addition to being named one of the top 10 restaurants on Long Island, within a short 15 months in business, Restaurant Five Five 2 has received a four and a half star rating from VIP OpenTable reviews, top reviews from The New York Times, Newsday, Pulse magazine, Yelp, and Foursquare. Just one month into 2014, they were also featured on the award winning and popular Verizon FIOS1 television show, Restaurant Hunter, as the perfect place to enjoy a ‘Date Night’. Host Rob Petrone said, “…seriously, this is the best chicken parm I’ve ever had.” See for yourself how much he enjoyed the atmosphere and fare http://www.fios1news.com/
Even with all the recognition, Five Five 2 doesn’t rest on its laurels. “We strive to continually provide our guests high quality and innovative menu items, which is why we adjust our offerings seasonally.” explains, Smith.
Their Spring 2014 menu launches this week with an expanded Tapas selection featuring new delights in a salmon tartare, polpetti, and stuffed piquillo peppers. A new notable ‘It’s OK…use your hands’ section, includes: authentic beer battered fish & chips, a new twist on BBQ brisket grilled cheese sandwich, and a Mediterranean sampler for two which includes a house-made hummus, olives and toasted pita. Don’t worry; the sliders that Joanne Starkey of the New York Times called “the best sliders she’s ever had,” are still on the menu.
In addition to the new Spring menu, Restaurant Five Five 2 has announced, that due to high demand, they will be opening for lunch starting at the end of February.
As Newsday food critic Peter Gianotti stated, “Here’s a restaurant so confident and convincing that you’ll start using 552 as lottery numbers!” It appears that Five Five 2 has won the restaurant lottery – consistently great reviews and the buzz that it’s the hot place to be.
