New Medical Director joins the UK’s Oldest Occupational Health Charity

Corporate Health is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Medical Director Dr Nicola Cordell who will help continue to develop and deliver the charities objects and deliver great Occupational Health services to organisations across the UK
 
Feb. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- We welcome Dr Nikki Cordell FFOM as of this month. Dr Nicola (Nikki) Cordell is an experienced consultant occupational physician employed by Corporate Health as the Medical Director, responsible for clinical delivery of services, delivery of clinical training and developing occupational health research within the organisation. Nikki has specialist interests in physical and mental resilience, medical education and the use of digital technology in occupational health practice. She completed specialist training in 2004 while serving as a medical officer in the Armed Forces, having joined the Army as a general practitioner after completing her postgraduate training in the NHS in Scotland. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1989. She has developed and delivered regional clinical occupational health services within the Armed Services and subsequently has worked in independent specialist practice. She has an MSc in Medical Education with Cardiff University and has a special interest in the use of digital media in medical education. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, digital media editor for the Occupational Medicine journal and President Elect of the Occupational Medicine section of the Royal Society of Medicine. She is also an examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. Passionate about the future of occupational medicine, Nikki has a keen interest in developing occupational health services and positively influencing organisations in adopting good occupational health practice not only in the UK, but internationally. She represents the Society of Occupational Medicine on the European Union of Medical Specialists Occupational Medicine Section and leads the working group on Occupational Medicine training for the section.

On commenting on her new position, Nikki said “I am delighted to take up this challenging role and work with the management team on maximising delivery of high quality clinical services, using innovative solutions and a multidisciplinary approach. I am also looking forward to using the skills gained during my MSc in Medical Education to develop the charity’s contribution to education within the occupational health sector.”

Nikki also a keen interest in health sector reform in developing countries and fragile states, from her during her military service. This has led to her becoming an examiner for the Diploma in the Medical Care of Catastrophes, and the Course Director for the Military Humanitarian and Stabilisation Operations Course for the Armed Forces.

Nikki will work closely with the clinical and commercial team as well as our customers giving them direct access to her insight and considerable experience. The charity looks after nearly 1000 organisations across the UK and continues to grow daily, Nikki will help us deliver our offering, quality and continue develop our training of clinicians across the industry.”
