PALM BEACH, Fla. - Feb. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- The Palm Beach Pops Fills the Kravis Center for its Tribute Concert in Memory of Founder Bob Lappin

(North Palm Beach, FL – February 17, 2014)   The Palm Beach Pops performed to a sold-out audience at the Kravis Center on February 4 for a tribute performance for the late Maestro Bob Lappin. The concert featured guest conductor Lee Musiker, Grammy and Emmy-winning Music Director/Pianist for Tony Bennett, Barbara Cook, Mel Tormé, Jerry Lewis and Buddy Rich.  Mr. Musiker brought a wealth of experience to the podium through his association with premier artists in all music genres, in addition to guest conducting many concerts over the years including The New York Philharmonic and the Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Mr. Musiker was joined by renowned guest artists Christine Andreas, Tony DeSare, Mary Rowell, Longineu Parsons and Lynn Roberts, all of whom had performed on numerous occasions with Bob Lappin and joined The Palm Beach Pops orchestra in a tribute to the Maestro.

“We were thrilled at the overwhelming response to the Tribute Concert for Bob Lappin and the outpouring of support for The Palm Beach Pops.  As our President, Jon Lappin, said on stage the night of the concert, ‘The Palm Beach Pops isn’t just a legacy but a cultural treasure of Palm Beach County’.  We can once again confirm that The Palm Beach Pops will continue to perform in the upcoming season and we are looking forward to bringing artists and music to our community.  Once our season dates and venues are set, our loyal patrons will be the first to know,” said Charlotte Laurent-Ottomane, Executive Director of The Palm Beach Pops.

The Palm Beach Pops also recently concluded its latest “Music & You” In-School Youth Education Program with a concert on February 7 at the Eissey Campus Theatre. The four-week program has reached nearly 90,000 elementary school students over the past 15 years, is benchmarked to Florida Sunshine State Standards, and correlates music with social studies, literature, character education, science and math to enhance major academic disciplines.  The Palm Beach Pops provides the curriculum, including study materials for the students, in addition to the orchestra performances and bussing the students to the concert, at no cost to the schools involved.  All funds for the program are contributed by generous supporters of The Palm Beach Pops’ Music & You program.
