Winsome Diamonds serves Rs. 400 crores defamation notice to International Diamond Exchange

Feb. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Winsome Diamonds and Jewellery Limited has served a defamation notice to International Diamond Exchange for an allegedly negative article about the Company on their web portal www.idexonline.com. A similar notice has also been served to the author of the article Mr. Edahn Golan.

The article captioned “Winsome, Lose Some” had accused the Company of business malpractices, etc.

Calling the article as grossly and maliciously defamatory, Winsome Diamonds has asked for publishing an immediate and full apology, immediately remove the article from its website and on other online sources, publish at the earliest juncture an article by way of remedial clarification of the defamatory publication in a similar and prominent manner on the Idex website. The Company has also demanded from International Diamond Exchange to cease and desist from publishing any further false and defamatory material concerning Winsome.

The Company has threatened International Diamond Exchange that it will seek to move for civil and criminal prosecution proceedings against International Diamond Exchange and the author of the article. The notice also warns to sue to the extent of Rs. 400 crore for failure to comply with demands.

While the article has been withdrawn from the website, the other demands by Winsome Diamonds haven’t been met yet.
