A Virtual Way of Fighting Cancer

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Feb. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- A group from Canada has recently endeavored to become part of the popular virtual crypto coins by launching a new crypto currency called CancerCureCoin to aid in fundraising for cancer research.

CancerCureCoin is one of the new alternative crypto coins, which works similarly to Bitcoin, a virtual currency gone mainstream due to its fast growing popularity. Like Bitcoin, CancerCureCoin can be used online in order to buy and sell goods or services, however, this currency promises to achieve much more than that. The vision for CancerCureCoin is to serve as a way of fundraising for research and studies being performed by worldwide cancer research organizations.

Cristiano Santos, Marcos Gomes, and Vinicius Presa, in collaboration with programmer Matthew Mitchell from England made the CancerCureCoin concept into a reality. Marcos Gomes believes the CancerCureCoins, “will aid these organizations in developing better cancer treatments and will eventually contribute to the cure for cancer”.

Currently, the team behind the CancerCureCoin are coordinating with Isaac Yonemoto, Ph.D., scientist in chemistry and biophysics, and founder of Project Marilyn to raise funds for his research. Project Marilyn is a scientific initiative to produce the anticancer compound 9DS.  Research on 9DS was halted in 2010 when the principal investigator left academic research; it was at an early preclinical stage with promising results. This is a non-profit effort to crowdfund a project to bring 9DS and several variants through preclinical trials. The research focuses on a compound known as the 9DS that aims to fight cancer.
