A representative for the exotic car rental company spoke at a recent press conference regarding the increase and speculated the trend would continue through the month and on into spring.
“Our limos are in the field nearly all the time these days,” the representative stated. “Which is kind of unusual for this time of year?” He went on to explain that very much like any retail, there is a lull in the high-end rental car business following the holiday season. Limousine rentals typically pick up the slack during that period but not to the degree felt this winter.
Business on a whole, according to the Elite Luxury Rental spokesperson, has increased across the board, including some of the more rare and exotic vehicles that would normally not be moving quite so often.
“We don't often get a request for a driver for the Rolls Royce Ghost,” he offered. “But, just last week a couple wanted to experience the true feel of opulence so they rented the top luxury vehicle on the lot.”
One theory for the increase in not only Limousine rentals but also luxury car rentals in Miami is the arctic blast in the North. A spokesperson for the National Weather Service stated that the bone chilling
Cold has prompted people to take vacations earlier this year; therefore the tourist industry is noticing the economic increase. “People are simply heading south for the winter.”
Travel Agencies and Airlines servicing the Mid-West report that the trend of travel to the South and West Coast has indeed increased as the brutal cold set in. Difficulty in travel itself has deterred some travelers although the larger percentage of Southern bound Northerners endured the bitter cold and delayed flights to escape.
“I waited almost two hours on the plane for de-icing,” commented Stuart J. of Minneapolis. “But, here I am in Miami and there is no snow or ice in sight...”
