Journalist Anthony Stanford Named The 2014 Outstanding African-American Of The Year

Author of Homophobia in the Black Church: How Faith, Politics and Fear Divide the Black Community to be honored by the city of Aurora, Illinois.
 
CHICAGO - Feb. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- The city of Aurora, Illnois will honor Anthony Stanford as the Outstanding African American of 2014. Stanford will be recognized at the 10th Annual Heritage Dinner on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Pipers Banquets, 1295 Butterfield Road in Aurora.

Stanford's groundbreaking book, Homophobia in the Black Church: How Faith, Politics and Fear Divides the Black Community, and columns about race, religion and politics are critically acclaimed.

Theodia Gillespie, President/CEO of the Quad County Urban League in Aurora, said this about the author,
“Anthony Stanford is truly a leader who is using his talents to be a voice of the voiceless and to speak for those who can’t or won’t speak for themselves.  He is using the power of his pen to raise awareness about key issues that affect African-Americans and the community at large.”

Stanford is a regular on the Chicago media circuit, including, America’s oldest African-American radio station, WVON. He has appeared on Chicago's WYCC, and WTTW public television stations.
