The company, which began serving customers across the United States in 1991, officially reached this milestone on Feb. 1. Remotes.com provides replacement remote controls for over 400 brands of televisions, DVD players, satellite receivers and car audio equipment. Replacement remote controls can be a lifesaver when the dog chews up the old one, or you spill a beverage on it, according to Wallace.
What makes Remotes.com a unique company, according to Wallace, is that they don't sell universal remotes, or controls that can be programmed to function for various different electronics products in a customer's home. Instead, they keep the focus on specific brands. Switching to a universal remote can often mean the loss of certain features a customer can only get on a brand-specific device, which is why Remotes.com specializes in replacing the exact one customers are used to holding in their hands.
"So far, we've replaced more than 1.5 million remotes!" Wallace proudly admits. Remotes.com is currently looking to expand and update its website, though that project is still a few months from completion. In the meantime, Wallace and the rest of the Remotes.com staff are enjoying this accomplishment and looking back at all the hard work it took to get here.
