Susan Culver Solo Exhibition February 25th to March 29th at Meinhart’s Gallery in Pitman

PITMAN, N.J. - Feb. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Local artist Susan Culver is having a solo exhibition February 25th to March 29th at Meinhart’s Gallery in Pitman, NJ. The exhibit will showcase 30 paintings ranging from oil to acrylic. The Opening Show will take place on the 28th, Pitman’s February Fourth Friday, from 6 pm to 9pm. An Artist Reception is to follow the day after, on the 25th, from 1pm to 4pm. Culver will be at the gallery on these days to help answer any questions about her art. European candy and other snacks will be offered during these events.

Susan Culver is an artist that lives in Pitman in Gloucester County, New Jersey. She grew up in Maple Shade, NJ. Culver paints in oil and acrylic and draws with pencil.

Culver attended the Tyler School of Art, which is a part of Temple University in Philadelphia. Culver earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Art Teaching Certificate and Elementary Ed K- 12. Culver graduated at the top ten percent of her class, at the age of forty. She opened her own studio and taught after-school classes to children age five through eighteen and taught adults in the evening for many years. Since that time Culver has exhibited her work in local art shows in the Philadelphia area. Including the 43rd Annual Juried Art Show at the Haddon Fortnightly in Haddonfield, NJ. Most recently her work was exhibited in the See.Me art show and Gallery in New York City on October 5th 2013.

“I am a storyteller. I tell stories that are whimsical, quirky and unique. Sometimes I tell these stories with paint, sometimes I tell them with words. I interpret the world differently then most people. I see all the colors and all the shades in between. It has been my experience in life that if you expect to find happiness and joy you will find it. If you think the world is full of hatred and ugliness then that is what will come to you.

The natural world is my love, a blue and white sky, and beautiful birds bright and full of music. I love to depict water and mountains, and plants in new and delicious colors.

I play with reality and juxtaposing objects that wouldn't ordinarily live in the same space. I like to experiment with mixing the real with the imagined. I experiment with size of objects in my work. I collect interesting and unusual objects. I bring these objects together and create something new with them. They have their own story to tell. I let them do it.

Sometimes I paint a memory or a dream. I want to share it.

I am leaving the best part of myself behind for others to discover when I no longer exist in this realm anymore. I am leaving my dreams, love and joy.”

Meinhart's Gallery & Curio, Inc. is a contemporary, representational fine art and crafts gallery and curiosity shop. The gallery caters to emerging and professional artists showcasing clear skill in 2D art and handmade crafts.
