“The Appreciation drawing is an extra bonus and a thank you to those who support the hospital in a variety of ways,” explained Kathy Rice, TMC Mega Raffle executive director. “Now in year two, we are seeing more and more people wanting to show their support and take advantage of the great odds of winning.”
This year’s first raffle winners all hale from areas in southern Ariz. including Sahuarita, Sierra Vista, Oro Valley and Tucson. While most purchased tickets in last year’s raffle, it was the first time they won a prize.
Helga Kivisto, a retired math teacher, small business owner and resident of Sahuarita since 1999, was excited to learn she was the top winner of a 2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE and $10,000, a prize package valued at $40,000.
Kivisto said, “I purchased a ticket because I thought the odds were so good and I liked that it would help the hospital.” Kivisto’s late husband received care at TMC.
Arnold Hiser of Sierra Vista won the diamond bracelet, which he plans to give to his wife.
“You always dream of winning,” he said. “I didn’t tell my wife I purchased a three-pack of tickets, but she is going to be glad I did.”
Albert Holland, a retired military veteran and resident of Tucson since 1970, has been a patient at TMC a number of times over the years. Holland won a 2-night getaway to the Hyatt Regency golf resort in Indian Wells, Calif., which includes a $600 certificate for resort activities.
Holland said, “My wife and I will be celebrating our 60th wedding anniversary this year and we have never been to Indian Wells. I was glad to support TMC, and this will be nice for us.”
