Functional And Sports Training Coach Anthony Passamonte Keeps Clients Focused On Commitment

Feb. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Veteran fitness coach Anthony Passamonte (http://impactfast.com/about/impact-coaches/about-co-owner-and-performance-coach-anthony-passamonte/) laments the fact that the average person views the heath and fitness industry in terms of just doing “sets and reps” rather than fostering powerful connections between people and true transformation. Having trained at and/or managed at various big box franchise gyms over the past ten years, the onetime high school football star is well acquainted with the fitness business’ struggle to change that common stereotype.

Since launching the Sudbury, MA based Impact Functional and Sports Training (http://impactfast.com/) facility with his former client Beth Concaugh in the winter of 2013, his goal has been nothing less than transforming the lives of adults (functional training) and athletes of all ages (sports training) with a proven and successful training system and philosophy based on commitment, consistency and accountability.

The main page of the Impact’s website touts the facility as the region’s only gym and training facility with a full smoothie bar (also open to the general public) and full body Aqua Massager that guarantees results; its formal name is “Spa Capsule,” a recovery hydrotherapy machine which helps rejuvenate the body and rebuilt muscles after intense workouts.

After finding their dream location, a 7,500 square foot space in a popular local shopping plaza, Passamonte and Concaugh achieved their vision of a full-service facility with large glass walls to create visibility and light cherry wood panel walls – touches, he says, that “allow some good energy to be created, good training and flow for our classes” while including space conducive to extra features like educational, training and nutritional workshops. Their concept from the start was to create a facility to educate, motivate and inspire.

Passamonte has created various programs (available in private, semi-private and large group training formats) geared towards their primary demographic, adults in the 35-55 range. Interestingly, when Concaugh first began working with Passamonte at a local turf rental facility that bought out his previous employer Velocity Sports Performance, she had just moved to the area with her husband and was a stay at home mom. Passamonte helped her achieve a dramatic weight loss of 48 lbs. in six months – and now he’s able to do that for hundreds of women in the area.

The functional programs he has created for adult clients include Impact Metabolic Conditioning, focusing on fat burning, weight loss, gaining strength and endurance, in addition to becoming mentally strong; Impact Total Body Strength, for fat burning, weight loss and gaining muscle, strength and lean muscle mass; BodyFit, a “total body class” for those who want to be fit while having fun doing it; MoveStrong, which is a functional challenging class at its core; a high intensity TRX class; and Spin, with now the addition of Yoga, which was added in the summer of 2013.

On the athletic side, Passamonte conducts a Youth Performance Program for ages 8-12, which helps increase their range of motion, flexibility and body strength – all essential to the development of sport specific skills. His Impact Essential Sports Training (ages 13-18) is where athletes develop neuromuscular patterns; it focuses on improving and stabilizing athletic movement while striving to improve speed, agility and power. Passamonte and his coaching staff also do High School Sports Training for strength and conditioning of athletes from 16-18.

From the start, Passamonte and Concaugh wanted Impact to be a facility that focused on fat loss and body transformation for its functional training clients. Everything goes back to the foundational acronym CCA (commitment, consistency, accountability) – but there is another acronym at work as well. MAP, an idea from Tony Robbins, he has created a Massive Action Plan to lift clients to a mental and physical level they have never hit before.

When he works with athletes now, he also tells them of the opportunity to play football at Northeastern University – and how his fear of failure led him to walk away. “With my clients,” he says, “I emphasize that they should never walk away from something they are passionate about. No matter the odds. That experience and my regret over it really transformed me as a person and changed the way I coach.”
