F.E. Moran Fire Protection Completes the Safety Trained Supervisor Course

NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Feb. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Northbrook, IL – F.E. Moran Fire Protection was the first of the Moran Group of companies and one of the first fire sprinkler companies to complete the Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) course through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Allen Metcalfe, President of F.E. Moran Fire Protection, Northern Illinois, approved to have his management, field leadership, and safety team complete this pilot safety training program as part of their 2013 Safety Action Plan.  He believed that the future of work safety is in education, and the Safety Trained Supervisor course more than met his expectations.   “Safety is the primary concern here at F.E. Moran Fire Protection Northern Illinois,” said Metcalfe.  “Though it is a forefront issue with all of our customers, industry, and support services, it is an integral cultural way of life in The Moran Group, especially at F.E. Moran Fire Protection Northern Illinois.  My people are everything to me, and keeping them as safe as possible in the hazardous environment that we work in is always paramount.”

The BCSP is an organization that has been around since the 1960s and is the US governing body to safety professionals all over the world.  Certifications through BCSP are recognized by entities including 3M, NASA, Willis, Turner, Bovis, Power Construction, Walsh, and others.

Over a 90 day period, Jason Galoozis, Safety Director, hosted 4 training sessions to educate employees on the fundamentals of safety.  They developed a BCSP-based syllabus and purchased corresponding books to conduct the 4-part course.  At the conclusion, each student had to complete a 100 question exam at a third party testing facility.
