Malfunctioning robot and protagonist, Heart, embarks on a quest to find its identity and, ultimately, love. Fittingly, the crowd-funding campaign to further the game’s development begins on 14th February and there are a limited number of dedicated Valentine’s Day rewards available at $25.
Having received a warm welcome from the gaming community, the capital raised on the crowd-funding platform will be used to hire professional visual artists, animators, programmers and sound designers for its eventual release for PC, Mac and Linux in December, 2014. The game is currently pre-Alpha, with Alpha coming before March.
Heart&Slash was ranked within the top 10 games of 14,646 in the IndieDb rankings this week
Beta release is due in September this year

Heart&Slash is set in the distant future. Humans are long gone and all that remains are machines, working through the motions programmed by their masters many ages ago. The sole priority of the machines is to ensure everything complies with the obscure standardisation protocol, under the supervision of the all-seeing robot leader, Quality Assurance System (QuAsSy).
But not all robots are the same. Maybe as a result of faulty wiring, there are some willing to stand up for themselves, to resist conformity and find their identity.
The game contains rogue-like elements, with random environment generation and discovery mechanics inspired by the likes of Bayonetta, Megaman and ADOM. Juan Raigada, Lead Developer at A Heartful of Games, explains:
The game therefore contains plenty of content. Fight using 75 different weapons and 60 different body parts that will change the way the game plays: Teleport, stop time, fly with a jetpack, wall-jump, discover enemy weaknesses and so on. From the trivial to the game-changing, you can try thousands of different combinations!
