DENVER - Feb. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Firefighters instinctively focus on what’s important, and for 20 years now, they have racked up support and enthusiasm for the Great Balls of Fire 9-Ball Billiards Challenge.  This afternoon pool tournament raises money for the Kyle E. Fisher Memorial Fund at Ability Connection Colorado (ACCO).  Over the last 20 years, more than $1.5 million dollars has gone directly to the fund, providing developmental services to over 4,000 children.

“Our whole family is incredibly grateful for the support of Denver Firefighters and this community in keeping Kyle’s spirit and memory alive and providing opportunities for kids,” Brian Fisher shared with the crowd of over 250 gathered at the Wynkoop this past Saturday.  Brian and his wife Kelli named The Kyle E. Fisher Memorial Fund in honor of their son Kyle, who was born with cerebral palsy and passed away in 1997.  Brian is a former Yankees relief pitcher (1985-6) who serves on the ACCO board and has a warmth and affection that are contagious.

“Twenty years ago, it was a committed group of firefighters that set out to recruit individuals, families and companies to build an event that captures 6 year old Kyle’s legacy.  No one understands better our vision of communities that include and celebrate the abilities of all individuals and their contributions,” says Ability Connection CEO Judy Ham.

Denver Firefighters, the Colorado Professional Firefighters Foundation, Littleton Firefighters, and West Metro Firefighters “racked up” over $113,000 at Saturday’s event, with special thanks to our amazing community partners Circle K, Dex, EnerCom, FirstBank, Noble Energy and event host Wynkoop Brewing Company in addition to the many sponsors, volunteers and players who participated.  Please visit http://abilityconnectioncolorado.org/billiards_thank_you/ for details.
