Post-Grad Scoops Action for Sick Children's 'Norah Rees 2013 Award'

STOCKPORT, U.K. - Feb. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Action for Sick Children’s ‘Norah Rees 2013’ Award for the best Master’s degree dissertation by a nurse or healthcare professional has been won by Mrs Denise Holley, a post-graduate at King’s College, London.

The health and social care research student, who comes from Sydenham in South East London, received the award from the charity’s chairman Mrs Pamela Barnes MBE, Hon. FRCPCH at a ceremony also attended by Action for Sick Children’s vice chairman, Dr Deepak Kalra.

Dr. Edward Pursell, a Supervisor at King's College,who identified the dissertation’s link to Action for Sick Children's Charter said: "It explores whether the psychological needs of children are met and whether healthcare professionals required further training to meet these needs."

Action for Sick Children’s chairman Mrs Barnes said: “This award is rightly highly regarded and I was delighted to present it to Mrs Holley who should be proud of this significant achievement.”

Norah Rees left a legacy to Action for Sick Children,of which she had been a long time supporter, hence the name of the annual award. It is presented for the best postgraduate dissertation that contributes to the Action for Sick Children Charter, incorporated into the European Association for Children in Hospital Charter.
