HeartSine AED Protects Jamaican Olympic Bobsled Team

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Feb. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- With all the challenges the Jamaican bobsled team had to contend with in returning to the Olympics after a twelve-year hiatus, HeartSine Technologies wanted to ensure that the team was protected in case of a sudden cardiac arrest emergency at its Wyoming training facility.

HeartSine Technologies has donated an automated external defibrillator (AED), called the samaritan PAD 350P, to the Jamaican national team which will compete in the upcoming Winter Games in Sochi.

In addition to the AED which stands ready at the team’s Wyoming training facility, HeartSine is providing an AED to the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Foundation (JAAF) and has committed to provide the foundation with ten additional AEDs if the Jamaican bobsled team takes home a medal for the event.

As a trained medical technician, team captain Winston Watts understands the importance of AEDs.

Says Watts, “As with any sport, in bobsledding you need to be prepared for any medical emergency, including Sudden Cardiac Arrest.  We are grateful for this donation by HeartSine of such a small and lightweight AED.”
