2 APRIL CLASS: THE PWS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP is about the development of government Performance Work Statement documents. This class is intended for employees in both industry and government desiring a greater understanding of how to prepare a well-written and properly formatted PWS documents for Section C of a Request for Proposal. You may be a government employee and not know what the process is-this class will teach you what you need to know. You may be a contractor asked to develop a PWS based on a Statement of Objectives (SOO) that you receive as part of an RFP. You will learn about the process, FAR regulations, the Uniform Contract Format (UCC), and how this process has been so successful for the DOD and other agencies. Mr. Knauer, a former senior contracting officer for the Department of Labor and DOT said, "Some consulting firms are paid upwards of $30,000 to $200,000 to write PWS documents for the federal government. For example, a recent FAA contractor located in DC was paid $200,000 to write a PWS."  All FAC-C, FAC-COR, and FAC-P/PM personnel should be expected to know how to write a good Performance Work Statement. More and more, industry is writing PWS documents for government based on Statements of Objectives. You will get the opportunity to review and understand policy and proven formatting schemes, and test your skills individually and in a team exercise that will prove that YOU can develop and write a PWS. So, if you, your agency or firm are interested in gaining an understanding the PWS development process.

This class on Understanding Solicitations (Requests for Proposals) and a FAR Overview is intended for employees in both industry and government desiring a greater understanding of how to read, understand as well as assist in preparing a good Request for Proposal (RFP) when working with the contracting office. As a government employee you may not know what should go into the creation of a good RFP that works to create a value contracts for an agency. We'll teach you the basic elements. You might be a contractor employee that knows very little about the federal contracting process, and how to respond to an RFP with a proposal-you'll learn that, including why understanding the Uniform Contract Format (UCF) is so important to your success. You'll earn 4 CLP credits for this portion of the class. Everyone from contracting specialists, CORs, PMs, and contractors can learn some basic tricks of the trade in this class to create a value driven RFP that works!  All FAC-C, FAC-COR, and FAC-P/PM personnel should know what goes into creating a good solicitation that drives excellence in the selection of good contractors, as well as relevant FAR clauses. Today industry is cutting corners, and is not as devoting as much Customer Relationship Management to its government clients as they should be. This is a chance for program managers to learn how to weed out the good contractors out from the bad while developing solid RFPs. In this class you also get the opportunity to earn 4 CLP credits with an Overview of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) contents, and learn how and why certain clauses and contract provisions are included in your contracts.
