DALLAS - Feb. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- DALLAS, TEXAS (February 5, 2014) … As the world gears up for the 2014 Winter Olympics, hockey players everywhere are hitting the ice a little harder. Local business owners Anthony Natale and John Egnatis, co-founders of Grenadier Homes (http://www.grenadierhomes.com/), are no exception.

Natale and Egnatis have been playing hockey together since childhood. They met in the 1960s, when the Egnatis family needed a home built in Toronto, Canada. Natale’s father, Nick, built that home in his neighborhood. The boys quickly became close friends, frequently playing ice hockey together on nearby Grenadier pond. The experience had a major impact on them, and they created Grenadier Homes with that in mind – to make a positive difference in people’s lives through homebuilding.

“Hockey has been a driving force in both our lives. Through it, we’ve forged many meaningful relationships, and we’ve learned a lot about ourselves and the world around us,” notes Natale. “When we built our business, we used those lessons as cornerstones, and we continue to use them every day.”

Egnatis highlights some of those integral lessons: virtues like integrity, teamwork, imagination, discipline, civic responsibility and passion.

“Hockey teaches you how to work together to accomplish a worthwhile goal. Because Anthony and I can work together as a good team, we’ve been able to build a great company,” says Egnatis. “Hockey teaches you to work hard, to have a winning attitude and do your best. You have to be committed to excellence and uphold the ethics of your team and sport. Everyone is counting on you to do the right thing. All of these characteristics are very much a part of the Grenadier Homes culture and have helped us be successful.”

He adds that passion is one of the most important elements – both of hockey and of business success. “We play hockey because we’re passionate about it, and we created Grenadier Homes because we’re passionate about people and about making a difference in their lives. That’s what motivates us.”

Today, Natale and Egnatis continue to play hockey together as teammates on Blue Steel, which competes in the Senior Stars Hockey League (http://stars.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=83862) (SSHL) – the official adult hockey league of the Dallas Stars. The SSHL plays a 26-game schedule each season, plus playoffs. Egnatis is a Left Wing for Blue Steel, Natale a Defenseman.

Natale and Egnatis are passionate about the sport, something they’ve passed down to their children. Egnatis frequently plays hockey with his three sons, and Natale serves as a coach for his son’s little league hockey team.
