Local gal looking to start a small farm...with ducks

DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Feb. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- North, GA - What a lot of people don’t know is that some of the Heritage Breeds of egg laying ducks are endangered. Or that duck eggs are more nutritious than chicken eggs. Or that they taste the same and are better for baking.

One Atlantan wants to change that. There are a lot of things we don't know about the creatures we all loved growing up feeding at your local pond. Unfortunately, that is ANOTHER thing that most people do not know. Feeding ducks bread is quite harmful to them, inhibiting their ability to fly. Feeding ducks is discouraged, but if you must, lettuce is a better option. Who knew?

The facts are, we need to know more about these amazing personable creatures. We need to conserve these animals. We need more duck eggs available to consumers. Hey, WE NEED A DUCK FARM!

This Realtor, turned artist, and entrepreneur wants to make her Duck Farm dream a reality. It would bring to the area a small business, local organic food, preserve endangered duck breeds, and be a fun place to visit!

The farm is looking to get funded through a crowd funding website called Kickstarter. It’s vision is to start a local egg producing farm and tourist destination in North Georgia. The Kickstarter Campaign is offering backers and hopefully future visitors a delightful duck calendar, postcards and t-shirts. They were all photographed and designed by her. My campaign is starting SOON. Feel free to give me feedback or sign up for notification when launched!
