The IDG team’s redesign is inspired by the restaurant’s motto of “tradition with a twist.” A softer color palette of cream and magenta floral fabrics and wall coverings with a cherry blossom motif and warm wood accents give the space a more modern, elegant feel. IDG expanded the hostess and bar areas, added booth and banquette seating for greater comfort, installed luxury vinyl flooring and custom lighting throughout the restaurant.
“We worked with IDG on our airport location years ago, so we knew we were in good hands,” Flo’s owner Dustin Wallace said. “They are very creative, and they also understand the restaurant business and how to execute their ideas so that they serve both form and function.”
In addition to the redesign of the approximately 4800 square foot interior, IDG remerchandised products and displays surrounding the bar area to better showcase Flo’s cocktail offerings.
From initial concept sketches to completion, the project took less than six months, wrapping up just before the holidays. Actual construction was done in approximately five days, much of it taking place at night after the restaurant closed.
“It was extremely valuable, as small business owners, that we were able to remain open during our remodel,” Wallace said. “Ideation Design Group strategically planned every step of the process, and crews worked a lot of late nights to keep disruption to a minimum.”
2014 marks the 10-year anniversary for Ideation Design Group. IDG is located at 5013 E. Washington St., Suite 270. To learn more about IDG’s projects and services visit ideationdg.com or call (602) 792-1781.
