"Now is a good time for kids to become comfortable in the water so when warm weather comes, they already have the skills to be water safe,” says Haley Swenson, Conejo YMCA aquatics director.
The Conejo Y, which serves Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Santa Rosa Valley, offers lessons at every skill level from beginners to advanced swimmers. Classes are designed to build confidence, teach swim techniques and develop good water habits. Children advance at their own pace.
Classes take place in the afternoons, early evenings and on Saturdays. Group and private lessons are available. Group lessons are $112 ($56 for Y members) and $216 ($128 for Y members) for private lessons. The Conejo Y’s pool is indoors and water temperature is maintained at 84 degrees.
