Greater Raleigh NAWBO Offers Discussion on Public Policy for Women-Owned Businesses at 2014 Luncheon

CARY, N.C. - Feb. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Kim Lewey, President of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Greater Raleigh, announced that NAWBO will present Public Policy:  35 Years!  Women in Business, Politics, and Power at the February 26, 2014 Greater Raleigh NAWBO luncheon.  Topics covered will include the history of women in business, the effect of public policy on women-owned businesses, and how women can shape change in public policy.  The program will feature Nancy McFarlane, Mayor of Raleigh and Founder of MedPro Rx, will lead the panel discussion, while and Jane Pinsky, Director of the Coalition for Lobbying and Government Reform, will moderate.  The luncheon will be held at Embassy Suites Raleigh, 201 Harrison Oaks Boulevard in Cary from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Registration for the luncheon is $35 for members, $45 for guests and $50 at the door.

Prior to the luncheon, Jane Pinsky will lead a brief, informal discussion on “Your Bottom Line Depends on You—Being an Advocate” from 10:15am to 11:15 am.  This talk is exclusively for luncheon participants, and Pinsky will outline why being an advocate is good for your business’s bottom line, ways to advocate for new growth, and how to remove road-blocks that can hinder your growth.

Nancy McFarlane is currently the Mayor of Raleigh and the Founder/President of MedPro Rx.  Prior to serving as mayor, she was a two-term Raleigh city councilwoman.

Moderator, Jane Pinsky, has been Director of the North Carolina Coalition for Lobbying and Government Reform since 2007 and a North Carolinian since 1986.  The Coalition works to einsure that North Carolina has governments, from local to state, open and accountable to their citizens.  It has helped enact ethics legislation for legislators, lobbyists, government leaders and staff.
