Honda Releases the 2014 Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas Models

This news comes after the release of the upgraded 2014 Honda Civic Coupe and Sedan. The hybrid version of the Civic is now on sale while the Civic Natural Gas will start arriving at dealerships on February 15, 2014.

This year’s 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid has a starting cost of $25,425 MSRP. The vehicle boasts a few new features including a new standard seven-inch touchscreen display. There’s only one trim available for the model, but with a few optional packages. A fully equipped Civic Hybrid will start at $28,124.

The big news for this year’s Civic Hybrid is an increase in fuel economy. Previously, the 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid was rated at 44 mpg city and highway. This year’s model uses a 1.5L four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack producing 20-kilowatts. Power is distributed via a continuously variable transmission. City fuel economy remains the same, but highway fuel economy has been boosted to 47 mpg.

Honda is also adding the 2014 Honda Civic Natural Gas to dealerships. These models run on compressed natural gas rather than gasoline and start at $27,430. The Civic is powered by a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that’s rated at 27 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. This year Honda has added a new optional package that gives drivers leather seats that are heated in front, navigation, and other luxury features for a total MSRP of $30,080.

Drivers also have another fuel efficient option that was released to dealerships at the end of last year. The 2014 Honda Civic HF is rated at 31 mpg city and 41 mpg highway and requires only a stop at the closest gas station to power.
