Follow on Google News | Boutique hotel asks guests to "Pay what its Worth" for their stayA boutique hotel in Andalucia, owned by British couple Ray & Yvonne Williams, is celebrating a successful first year of trading by inviting guests to pay not the rate card but what their stay at the hotel is worth to them.
By: Cortijo Sabila Enjoying an enviable position between the popular Andalucian cities of Malaga, Granada and Cordoba, and close to El Torcal national park, the hotel has welcomed guests from around the world since opening their doors 12 months ago. With consistent five star Tripadvisor reviews, it has also quickly secured a top rating of “exceptional” "All the feedback has confirmed that we really have created the special place and personal service we dreamed of" explained Yvonne, who initially juggled managing the hotel and cooking all the food with running her global executive search company. "But having created extra rooms, enhanced the bodega and added a magnificent walled garden for weddings, it's getting harder to put a value on our guests' experience here." To try to find out, the hotel are running a "Pay what it's Worth" month which runs for the whole of March on direct bookings of 2 nights or more. The deal includes bed and luxury breakfast, staying in any of the rooms including the master suite. "Can you really put a price on personal service, interior design, views, homecooked food and little creature comforts?" Yvonne asked. "Allowing our guests to pay what they think their stay is worth will certainly tell us, subject to a small minimum charge to cover costs." As the hotel’s first birthday approaches, you certainly won't find this entrepreneurial couple lying in the sun relaxing as they are already busy managing yet more renovations. Plans are being finalised to build a "natural" swimming pool and large BBQ, pizza and paella area for events in the grounds. Meanwhile an existing outbuilding in the courtyard is halfway through conversion into 3 extra ensuite rooms - Cervantes, Picasso and Cameron - to complement the 5 existing, equisitely designed guest suites styled after famous Spanish cities.
