Costco to Host Book Signing for Local Mount Juliet Author

Bill Conger will be available to sign copies of pictorial history

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Feb. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- In the year 1800, young adventurers John Davis and his brother, Isham, left the comforts of their plantation life and bought the property that later became known as Mount Juliet. The origin of the town’s name has for years been a subject of friendly debate. At a meeting of the Mount Juliet Men’s Club in the 1940s it was speculated that it was either named for the mint julep drink, an estate in Ireland, or as an homage to Julia Jennings Baird Gleaves.

Now one of the fastest-growing communities in Tennessee, Mount Juliet has undergone a significant transformation since its beginnings over 200 years ago. “Unfortunately, for history lovers,” Conger says, “few of the early buildings were spared the wrecking ball. Many of those treasures are gone forever except in the hearts of the descendants and in the preserved photographs in this pictorial collection.”

Highlights of Mount Juliet include:

·         Professional basketball player and Mount Juliet native Tom Marshall

·         The few photos of early Mount Juliet that are still in existence, this is the one place where people can see what their town once looked like.
