NEW YORK - Feb. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Trends expert Daniel Levine is seeing a steady development of trends involving cities.

“Municipalities are redeveloping their infrastructures to take advantage of new ideas and new technologies,” says Levine, a noted keynote speaker. “Instead of keeping systems the same, developers are capitalizing on new trends and ideas to create a better life.”

The infrastructure is starting to change. Los Angeles just synchronized their entire stoplight grid- more than 4,000 signals working in concert. City planners are developed smart transportation grids, where vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists can communicate automatically to improve safety and efficiency. Designers are even looking for ways to incorporate bicycles, and designs involving elevated bike lanes have started to appear.

Fun and attractive ideas are also starting to move into the foreground. With space limited above ground in New York City, developers are working to take a park below street level. And around the world, buildings are starting to install colorful LED lights to celebrate events and brighten the skyline.

Communication systems in major cities are also starting to change. Municipalities like New York are starting to install wireless internet hubs in underground subway tunnels, allowing riders to always be connected. Other cities are making wifi ubiquitous within their boundaries, with connections available nearly everywhere.

“The wants and demands of citizens do not remain stagnant as time passes,” says Levine. “Cities are doing well to embrace new trends and keep their communities safe and livable.”
