DProfiler 2014 1.0 Creation Is Based on Client Feedback

Latest edition of Macro BIM software DProfiler supports live charrette style engagements as well as the ability to be a marketing tool right out of the gate

DALLAS - Feb. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Beck Technology, Ltd. announces the release of the latest version of DProfiler, its flagship Macro level Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. DProfiler integrates 3D modeling, cost estimating, energy analysis, site topography and sequencing for the construction industry.

Beck Technology prides itself on collaborating with industry leaders to provide the best Macro BIM resource.  The latest version of DProfiler has incorporated ideas from current software users, needs of the design/build industry and innovative functionality that continues to support an integrated industry approach to projects.

“This new version of DProfiler really showcases our level of involvement with our user base,” said Stewart Carroll, Chief Operating Officer of Beck Technology.  “We not only listen to feedback but we put that information back into our software. DProfiler users are incredibly innovative and they are using the software in ways that the construction industry has rarely seen before. The fact that they are setting the tone for their competitors to follow is not lost on us and that’s why we continue to evolve DProfiler into a solution that is revolutionary.”

A high level list of features that will be included in DProfiler 2014 1.0 are:

- Import and Export Underlays and Topographies: Allows the project team to move data to and from architectural software quickly.

- Import and Export To and From Revit: Interoperability function to and from Revit and DProfiler.

- Import Directly From SketchUp: Being able to import from SketchUp allows the user to have detailed, lightweight objects that add a level of realism to their DProfiler model.

- Creation of Line and Area Features: Generic graphical components with parametrics that can represent anything from utility lines to life sciences equipment.

- Modify Assumptions: Quickly and effectively adjust model assumptions across any level of the model instantly for quick what-if scenarios.

- Rules Engine: Allows users to specify things such as building codes and project constraints that can passively monitor whether a rule has been broken or even actively enforce the rules by preventing users from taking an action that will violate them.

- Preconfigured Building Types: For the more advanced database user, this function allows preconfiguring variables within collections and building types, so that commonly defined means and methods can be defined ahead of starting a project. Once used on a project these preconfigured collections and building types reduce the amount of time and effort to create accurate cost loaded models in DProfiler.

- Automatically Create Sequence Tasks: Allows users to create a full schedule/sequence for a project in about half the time as previous versions of DProfiler.

- Fill Cladding Patterns:  Rapidly apply detailed facades to an entire building.

- Antialiasing and the Ability to Apply Textures: These two enhancements allow users to create more detailed and visually appealing models.

Beck Technology has an unstated theme for each DProfiler version which is to tighten the quality of the existing features. In the 2014 1.0 version, heavy attention was placed on providing more stable energy analysis, faster grading of topography’s in Site 3D, and lightening the models so that you can create larger models without experiencing slowdown issues. They have re-implemented their CAD import to support having both lighter models as well as better support for trace edge functionality that allows users to create 1, 2 and 3D objects simply by clicking a single edge of a CAD underlay and allowing DProfiler to trace the rest of the connected edges automatically.

“Often when we sell DProfiler the very first thing the client wants to do with it is use it as a sales tool,” said Michael Boren, Director of Research and Development for Beck Technology. “They want to come to an interview with new technology that can showcase their technical prowess and wow the owners with ‘something more than just a pretty model’.  DProfiler 2014 1.0 has incorporated those requests while maintaining the stance that the software is a practical asset to innovative construction firms.”

Beck Technology offers a 15-day trial software of DProfiler for individuals and companies interested in learning more about the software through a hands-on experience.  The trial can be requested online at http://www.beck-technology.com/freetrial.html. A higher education trial version of the software is also available for current students enrolled in an accredited university system and may be used for research as well as school projects.
