DOUGLAS, U.K. - Feb. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- February marks the beginning of a busy few months for the ICM Group's aviation team, culminating in the Isle of Man Aviation Conference on 19th June.

Martin Kennaugh, head of aviation services for ICM Aviation, and Angie Deady-Fiddler, operations manager for Martyn Fiddler Associates Limited, will be attending the 4th annual International Corporate Jet & Helicopter Finance Conference in London from 4th - 6th of February. Organised by Corporate Jet Investor, this conference has become a key event in the business aviation calendar.

Martin will take part in a panel discussion about the proliferation of aircraft registries, following the launch of the new Guernsey Registry and the announcement of a new Jersey Registry. Martin will join Luc Beaudoin, director marketing and finance of 2-REG, David Colindres, president of the San Marino Aircraft Registry and Jorge Colindres, chairman and CEO of The Registry of Aruba.

Martin told us:

‘I am looking forward to the discussion. We know we have a world class and very successful Aircraft Registry on the Isle of Man but of course we also work with other offshore registries. It will be good to hear about what is happening in other jurisdictions and share ideas and concerns. The recent announcement of the new Jersey Registry adds an interesting dynamic and I am in no doubt it will come up in the discussion.

One of the biggest concerns for corporate jets flying in the EU is VAT. A number of offshore registries are outside the EU for VAT, so cannot solve the issue of flying in the EU. The right aircraft ownership solution is the key to free circulation in the EU. We are well placed on the Isle of Man to assist with that and can provide a VAT registered offshore company structure to address the VAT issue. We specialise in this area and work very closely with our colleague, Angie Deady-Fiddler, to provide a comprehensive package of services to aircraft owners and operators.’

More than 400 delegates have registered for the conference which takes place over three days. Two days are dedicated to corporate jets and one to helicopters.

In the meantime, Mark Byrne, director of the ICM Group, is heading off to Florida to attend the NBAA Business Aircraft, Finance, Registration and Legal Conference. Mark will be joined by the ICM Group’s legal counsel and aviation lawyer, Heather Gordon. Topics to be covered include FAA registry issues in transition, challenges in importing and exporting aircraft, lease and loan documentation and structuring transactions.

Heather sees this trip as an important one to keep in touch with contacts based in the US:

‘The Group’s aviation team has built some very strong relationships in the States and this event is great for maintaining and building on those as well as making new contacts. We have had lawyers from the US speak at the Isle of Man Aviation Conference two years running and they find our propositions very interesting. There is no doubt this is an important market for us.’

During both conferences, the aviation team has been tasked to invite key attendees to register for the Isle of Man Aviation Conference or to be a speaker at the event. ICM Aviation organises this annual conference, which is supported by the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry. In 2014 the conference will be listed in as part of the International Festival of Business taking place in Liverpool in June and July. For further information visit www.icmaviationconference.org.
