New York Author Karynne Summars Wins MARSocial's Author-of-The-Year Award

NEW YORK - Feb. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- MARSocial’s Author-of the-Year competition, which has been trending on Twitter lately, was arguably the largest competition of its kind worldwide. The aim was to give authors as much exposure via the large social media networking sites as possible and also help KeeranVaani Creations, a UK independent filmmaker, to raise funds through a Kickstarter campaign for the production of their feature film Disturbed, a psychological thriller /horror, mystery movie currently filming in the UK.

170 international authors from the U.S, Canada, Australia, England, Ireland, Israel, Scotland, France, Romania and other countries submitted excerpts from their books and then promoted the competition on social media, which included altruistically tweeting competitors' excerpts. There have been more than 250,000 tweets about this competition. Summars’ book excerpt from Chapter Six of her romantic thriller Desperate Pursuit in Venice had more than 6,500 tweets in addition to other social media shares.

Summars altruistically shared her competitors’ book excerpts on all her social media accounts, created certain Facebook group posts for them and assisted some of her fellow authors with the preparation of their press releases during the final stage of the competition. Simultaneously she shared KeeranVaani Creations’ Disturbed movie Kickstarter campaign page attracting investors and ultimately made a Kickstarter pledge herself resulting in the successful funding of the project.

Summars’ novel Desperate Pursuit in Venice follows Kataryna Taylor, a New York Private Equity partner, to Italy where she encounters love, infatuation and danger as well as a stunning family secret while pursuing the acquisition of an Italian biomedical company.

The author’s corporate finance background and some of her life experiences provided a good basis for this story, to which she then added captivating characters, exciting events and enticing international locales.

To set her book apart from recently published adult romance novels, Summars created a strong, ambitious and seductive but also compassionate female protagonist. Sensual scenes are presented tastefully and in the context of a true love story. The novel touches on important current issues designed to bring awareness to those finding themselves in similar situations in real life. The sequel, providing more emotional twists and turns as well as thrilling situations, is in preparation.
